Prebuilt Package Name: HP Pavilion p7-1127c
Processor: Intel Core i3 2120
Motherboard: IPISB-CU (Carmel2) - (pci x16 is ver 2.0)
GPU: MSI GT 710 2GD3 LP - (pci x16 version 2.0)
BIOS: v7.14 08/11/2011
Two seconds after starting the PC this screen shows for one second:
Screen goes black for a few seconds then the same image appears for another second. After that nothing else appears on the monitor.
Beeps:
one beep, 20 second delay
one beep, 20 second delay
one beep, 20 second delay
one beep, short pause, 3 quick beeps
The card seems to be compatible with the hardware. PCI 16x ver 2.0 on GPU and MB. Sufficient 300w PS.
I read here that it may be a case of bios software not supporting the GT 7.x series GPUs.

"You are not alone with woes of trying to upgrade the graphics with that motherboard. It seems the IPISB-CU (Carmel2) motherboard, which is what that model uses, is not compatible with the GeForce 7** series of graphics cards. There are numerous requests over at the HP forums about the same thing as yours. It seems the BIOS version for the motherboard is not compatible with that line of cards. There does not appear to be a version of BIOS that will make them compatible. The GeForce 6** family seems to work, ..."
So essentially is the hardware compatible?
If so what could be the issue?
If BIOS support is the issue, are there any official or hack-n-slash BIOS updates that would work on this MB that support 7.x Nvidea GPUs?
Thanks,
Dallen

Hi! @Dallen2, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand when you power on your PC you see an HP logo and boots to a black screen.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?
Are you able to access BIOS or F2 system diagnostics on your PC?
Do you get errors on the black screen?
Are the lights on caps lock and num lock blinking on your PC?
Have you tried checking with an external monitor?
As you mentioned when you power on your PC you see an HP logo and boots to a black screen.
Also, as you mentioned you hear 3 quick beeps from your PC.
The 3 beeps indicate the BIOS on your PC has got corrupted.
However, Try few steps recommended below.
If you are able to access BIOS try restoring the BIOS to default and check if it helps.
1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
If you are able to access system diagnostics (F2) try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware components are working fine.

Hi,
as @A4Apollo is out of the office today, I'm replying to you.
As you rightly pointed, the Motherboard IPISB-CU (Carmel2) graphics card has an one PCI Express x16 (Gen2.0) and a 300W power supply. There could be Nvidia graphics card that can be accommodated with these hardware specifications. However, certain graphics card required more power and you might have to upgrade the power supply too.
Secondly, you will have to check the graphics card specification before buying from the list of Nvidia GT 7** GPUs. There are few graphics card that should work with this motherboard. If you could give me an exact model then I can check it out Secondly, while researching, I came across this HP forums post where an expert has suggested the list if graphics card that should work fine with your motherboard.
Hope this information helps. Keep me posted for any further questions. Good luck! 🙂

The graphics card is the "GT 710 2GD3 LP" (amazon link)
I do not have another PSU's to test the motherboard with, so I'd likely exchange cards rather upgrade the PSU if that happens to be the issue.

@Dallen2, Thanks for your prompt response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
As you mentioned you will replace the graphics card instead of PSU.
Sure you can try replacing the graphics card and check if it the issue persists.
If the issue still persists try upgrading the PSU to a higher Watt this should take care of the issue.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Take Care! 🙂
