Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop keeps getting stuck on 88 percent and it stops charging any further. I have tried all of the tricks that I have read online and none of them have worked. Is there anything else I can try?

Please reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery

Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please restart the Notebook

Next update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

If the issue persists run a Battery Test to confirm the Hardware Functionality

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Power > Battery

Let me know how it goes 😊

Hello, I tried all of the steps above but none of them have seemed to have fixed my problem, and even when I checked the battery, it said that is has passed

At this Point I suggest you Reset the Notebook. If it's an issue with corrupted OS, then Windows might not be giving the correct information regarding the Battery

Please follow the instructions in this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04742289

If the issue persists after the Reset, please contact HP Support for replacement Battery

Thank you 😊

What does it mean when the charging light blinks between the orange (charging color) and the white color until it ultimately stops charging around 88 percent?

@ChefboyarDom

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Orange colour light on the charging port means that your notebook is charging and White colour means it charged fully.

  • Are you getting any error message plugged in not charging?
  • Does your computer shut down when Ac adapter is unplugged?
  • Have you tried with different or an alternate Ac adapter?

Keep me posted for further assistance.
