On my notebook, it seems a TPM Module is not present, as Window says so, but in the advanced menu of the BIOS, I see an option for choosing TPM Config which is set to Firmware TPM, the other options are LPC TPM and Disabling TPM all together. My confusion is, why is TPM Config an option in the BIOS if I don't have a TPM, or does the notebook have one but is not working? Thanks in advance.

Hi @VidyutP,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
I see that you are looking for TPM information for your Laptop.
It sounds like your HP Notebook has a TPM (Trusted Platform Module) feature that is either not functioning properly or not being recognized by Windows. Here are some points to consider:
Firmware TPM vs. LPC TPM: The BIOS options suggest that the notebook supports TPM functionality. "Firmware TPM" (fTPM) is a software-based implementation that usually runs on the CPU. "LPC TPM" refers to a hardware TPM chip. If the BIOS allows you to configure TPM settings, it indicates that the system has TPM capabilities.
TPM Version: Windows may not recognize the TPM if it’s not properly configured or if there’s an issue with the firmware version. Refer to the steps on this link to update the BIOS and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.
Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.
Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
Please install all the pending updates for the Windows operating system by following the below steps.
go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If the upgrade is available for your device and you want to proceed, download and install it.
Windows Settings: If Windows 10 reports that no TPM is present, check the Device Manager under "Security Devices" to see if the TPM is listed there. If it’s missing, that may indicate a problem with the TPM or its drivers.
BIOS Configuration: Ensure that the TPM setting in the BIOS is enabled. If it's set to "Firmware TPM," try switching to "LPC TPM" (if applicable) and see if Windows detects it. After making changes, save and exit the BIOS, then boot into Windows.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Run the Windows TPM Management tool by pressing Win + R, typing tpm.msc, and pressing Enter to see if any errors are reported.
- If there's a reset option in the TPM settings in BIOS, consider resetting it.
