I have bought a SSD (1TB) to replace my 250GB SSD, but in removing the back I see the SSD is a pcb. I shall now leave that in and add the internal SSD. The question is where can I get the connector cable from the SSD to the ribbon internal connector- only from HP or possible on eBay etc.. Obviouslt the SSD is standard connection but is the ribbon connector? I have to say I am extremely disappointed in HP - I have emailed them (can Currys) 4 times and absolutely no response!

Hi,
The cable you need has part number 930596-001
You can try HP parts store in your country:
or try online search with part number such as ebay.
You can see on page 33 of service manual, you can also get the left and right bracket to keep the drive in place or use some strong double-sided tape.

Hope it helps,

Here is what it looks like inside:
adding a 2.5 inch disk
The hard drive cable is available using spare part number 930596-001
Hard drive brackets Left bracket 934983-001 Right bracket 934984-001
I gather you are in the UK?
HP is likely not responding because they do not have the part in stock in the Parts Store for UK
Same result if you search for the brackets.
44 Euros on eBay to order the cable from a German seller:
The brackets are worse:
There is a UK seller for the cable that appears on USA eBay:
These parts are unfortunately nearly impossible to locate and sellers know how limited the supply is and price accordingly.
Some users have tried to make do with SATA hard drive cables from older HP models which are more readily available, hence cheaper but with mixed results.
Post back if you want me to do a deep dive and see what has worked and not worked on your particular model. Starting point:
At the end of the day your best option may be to upgrade to a larger capacity "gumstick" type M.2 disk. Prices on this have dropped a lot this holiday season.
