I have recently bought HP Envy - 13 -ad059na and i would like to connect it to a TV or aditional Display.
The only avaiable outputs are 2x USB 3.1 Type-C gen 1 with the following features (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge) and 2x USB 3.1 GEN 1 one of them with (HP Sleep and Charge).
My understanding is, I can have aditional display by using USB type-c, Display Adapter 1.2 but I need to know exactly what cable or adapter I need to buy?
Is it possible to buy an adapter that would have HDMI and some usb 3.0 or 3.1 with it?
please advise as there is a lot of people having problems, buying an adapter for 100£ that required ALT DP or ones that don't specify, and in the end they don't work.
With thanks M.

Your USB-C ports (at least 2 of them) carry a displayport signal so at a minimum you need a usb-c to DP cable like this:
You can also have a usb-C port replicator which will have an HDMI, a couple USB 3.0 ports and maybe even a wired ethernet. Something like this:

Post back with any other questions but please accept as solution if this is the answer you needed.

I know its sounds like a noob question but i couldnt afford spending 50 -100£ on someting that wouldnt work, a lot of those connectors say, for apple products or s8 but dont list my laptop so i wouldnt have bases for return.
Anyway if you have one of the newer envy laptops buy DP connector for hdmi to work, it's useful to have lan connector that way you don't end up with 10 different plugs. Everything working so far. Didn't test sd slots.
Thanks again 🙂
