This is embarrasing when it comes to me wasting 6 days and still haven't found a solution.
I will try to keep it short. Recently I bought one of the newest HP laptop in my country which is packed with the newest KabyLake-U. I know it is ultra power saving processor but what will your reaction be when seeing such a new chip throttling itself at 65 degree celcius.
I only run like Minecraft (don't judge) and come on,it is a 5 year old game. I tried undervolting the cpu and gpu. I also tried changing power plan setting. The game itself is fine. Sometimes it goes all the way above 100 fps, only to drop to like 1 and crawl to 15 and maintain around there. I checked it was actually the cpu thermal throttling itself with intel xtu, which is at around 60 degree max.
After long fix, the game became stable and everything is fine. Only till next reboot or so it starts again. I still dont get what is causing the issue. I heard that the 7200u has a low TDP and somehow the chip will be stuck in the TDP plan if its not receiving enough power.
And also, no, I dont even feel hot under the laptop and it is played on hard surface.
I started to get dissapointed on my decision last time on going with the KabyLake as more issues are found rather than improvements. Ironically, my 6 year old laptop runs Minecraft smoother than this laptop with the Geforce 940Mx. Smoother by meaning way smoother.
One last thing, nope it has never been oc. Dont be stupid it is a UPS core.

Hello, I also have this problem.
My friend with other brand can play the same games easily without any frame drops due to no thermal throtteling. I can run games for 2 minutes amazingly at 60-70 fps. And then it runs hot and it runs the games at 11 fps.
My friend has an 7th Gen i3 and a Nvidia GT940mx. I've got an 7th Gen i5 and the same GPU. But I can't run the games better then he can due to thermal throtteling at 50 degres Celcius, due to this I wish I had bought another brand.
HP how can you fix this?
Help fix this please. Much appreciated..
