You're very welcome.

Don't use DDR2-4200 (533 MHz memory).

That will slow down your PC, which can run the memory at a max speed of 667 MHz.

Use DDR2-5300 or DDR2-6400 memory.

The DDR2-5300 memory is what the dv6500 spec calls for, but if you want to use DDR2-6400 memory, that works fine as well, and it is usually cheaper and more readily available than DDR2-5300.

Hi, Chris:

You have limited options with finding such old type memory.

This memory should work for you...dual rank, non ECC, 2 x 2 GB PC2-6400 (800 MHz).  Will run at 667 MHz like the PC2-5300.

TECMIYO 4GB Kit (2x2GB) PC2 6400 SODIMM 2Rx8 PC2-6400S CL6 DDR2 SODIMM 800MHZ 1.8V DDR2-800 200pin N...

Thank you very much for your reply and the link. I found one site that mentioned the following 3 types of ram can be used for the dv6500.

DDR2 PC2-4200 533MHz,

DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz,

DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz SODIMM

But I am not sure. I know that motherboards vary according to region, I can find all three types of ram online. Is one type better than another for the dv6500? I am able to source DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz. If I have a choice, Is that the preferable type?

Kind regards

Chris
