When I insert a DVD or CD into the Optical Drive nothing happens! On checking Device Manager the DVDRW is listed with a yellow triangle. I have tried uninstalling it and rebooting but the same corrupt driver is reinstalled! How can I delete the corrupt driver (Error Code 39) and install a new driver?

Try this registry edit:
DVD drive "drivers" are a different animal than say network card or video drivers. They operate in a much more basic layer of Code so have to be reset in the registry. Give this a try and let us know how it works. The other possibility is a hardware problem with the drive itself.
