HP Envy Laptop 17t-da000
Microsoft Windows 11

Bought a new HP laptop from HP. After production and shipping delays I received my new laptop. I tried to add it to my profile and I get an error related to product code and serial number not matching. Trying to open support chat but since I cannot select this laptop from my profile, I cannot open a chat. Only recourse is to use community and identify this as a laptop I do not own.  So my first problem is how to add this laptop to my profile when the web site will not let me.

Second issue is I bought this specific laptop so I could upgrade memory to 64G (which is stated by HP as supported). When I try, laptop refuses to boot, just stays on black screen. I bought Micron Crucial DDR5-5600 SODIMM 32G (CT32G56C46S5)  per module and these matched exactly what the memory selector on the Micron site recommended for this specific laptop. It appears that this laptop WILL NOT support 64G of DDR5 RAM. I need to know if this is a known problem as I have used this memory on a Dell Laptop without issue.

You have only provided the general model series product name.

How to identify a laptop and find the actual serial number, product name and product ID (SKU)

Problem 1 resolved; the product number is not the same as the Part# listed on the bottom of the laptop.  It matches the Customer SKU on the label on the box. It also matches the packing list number directly below the ENVY 17t-xxxxx ...  Item is now registered.

Remaining issue is RAM upgrades, and I see other posts (not answered) on the same topic.

Did you mean the Crucial Memory website instead of Micron Memory website?

Since you now have the actual Product ID (SKU), why did you not provided it in your last response?

I asked for that with a reason that I provided.

Did you try a single memory module first to  see if it worked?

Is there a reason you did not contact Crucial Memory support to ask why their guaranteed compatible memory modules are not working? https://www.crucial.com/support/contact

Are you aware that new memory when plugged in and power turned on must undergo memory training?

It can take perhaps three minutes or a little longer to be recognized.
