JReid76,

Try to install this Synaptics driver, let me know if it installs successfully or fails. This is a driver specifically for your touchpad.

Hello JaReid76,

I understand you’re stating the cursor jumps around on your screen, is that correct? I will do all I can to help you resolve this issue.

Does there seem to be anything in particular that you have to be doing or is there a program that always seems to be up when this issue happens?

Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

Thanks

Thanks so much for any help you may be able to provide.

It does not seem specific to a program/software.  I have noticed the problem in word, office, outlook, gmail, etc.  The only change in the system is that the problem developed after loading a new hard drive.

Side note, I am a parent of three young children and one of them continually gets to my computer and he drools a lot.  I haven't noticed anything that would appear as liquid saturating the board, but that would be the only other issue I can imagine that may have had an instantaneous impact on performance?

Thx again!

JaReid76,

Thank you for that information.

I would like you to open the device manager to check the current drivers for your touchpad.

1.       Once the device manager is open open the Mice and other pointing devices section

2.       Right click on the Synaptics option

3.       Left click on properties

4.       Another window will appear click on the driver tab

Once you see that information please let me know what it shows as your driver version and date.

Also can you please provide the full make and model of the DV6 that you have, if you are unsure where to locate that information have a look at this link for a little help if needed.

Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

Thanks

JaReid76,

Are you using a wired or wireless mouse or the touchpad on the laptop?

Wired, I assume at least.  It's just the built in finger mouse on the keyboard.

JaReid76,

Okay so you are not using a mouse that is plugged into one of the ports on the side, correct?

Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

Thanks

JaReid76,

Okay, just wanted to get that clear.

Now when you accessed the device manager and opened the Mice section was Synaptics an option listed?

Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

Thanks
