JReid76,
Try to install this Synaptics driver, let me know if it installs successfully or fails. This is a driver specifically for your touchpad.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.
Thanks

I have an HP Envy M4 1015dx laptop that has the same problem. I have gone to mouse settings and tweaked settings to be the least sensitive while typing, to have the smallest click area, etc. I am using the built-in touchpad/mouse. This doesn't occur when using an external keyboard...but that largely defeats the point of having a laptop.
Please help!

@ Philasophos,
Thank you for that information.
Just curious when this issue occurs are your wrists accidentally touching or dragging on the touchpad?
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.
Thanks

Probably a little, but it'm typing the same as I type with any other laptop I've had, and this has never been a problem before. My brother has the same model computer and he also commented that this happens & gets really annoying, and he's planning to sell this new laptop for that reason.
It's basically inevitable to slightly graze the touchpad with the base of your thumb if you touchtype, given the relative position of the touchpad. The real issue is that the software needs to be smart enough to disable the touchpad while the user is typing. None of the synaptic software settings do this well enough for the problem to not occur.

@ Philasophos,
While you had Windows 8 installed did the issue occur there as well or just while using windows 7?
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.
Thanks

This seems to have fixed the problem. I will respond back if I notice that it changes, but I have been typing for a couple hours now and have not noticed the issue further. I appreciate your assistance as it was an easy fix.
Question - How does that drive wind up missing? Is it that when the computer store I had replaced the hard drive did not load the correct driver?

JaReid76,
Good news, it almost seems like the driver was never installed to begin with after the drive was replaced. You never mentioned seeing it in the device manager so it is as if it never got installed.
If the issue returns or you want to update just respond back to this forum and ill be here.
Thanks
