Hey guys.
So I recently customized my laptop :). I had a HP Pavilion dv6 6169-us with Intel HD 3000 intergrated graphics with 64MB dedicated memory and I switched the motherboard with that of a HP Pavilion dv6t-6100 CTO Quad Edition with Intel HD Graphics and AMD 6770m with 2GB of dedicated video memory :). Its obvious why I did the custimization.
So anyway all the drivers automatically installed (which were like 20ish) when I first booted the system with the new motherboard except the video drivers. I found the right graphics drivers for the dv6t-6100 CTO (Which HP Support's site detects as my laptop now) which is for Intel HD Graphics and switchable to AMD 6770m. Everything went off without a hitch. I enabled AMD 6770m in the Catalyst Control Center so I can now play my favorite games thats now supported with my new GPU but when I play its extremely laggy as if its still using Intel HD Graphics.
Now I was thinking one of two things. Either something is wrong with the drivers, which I doubt because at the begining of installation it said it was for AMD 6770m with Intel HD switchable graphics. Or that my power adapter is too weak. My AC Adapter is 35W I believe. Would it make a difference in gaming preformance if I got a 120W AC adapter? I looked online and I havent seen anything about a dv6t-6100 CTO Quad needing a 120W adapter but maybe its the common sense thing to do.
Anyway. That being said I came on here to get you guys feedback before I go searching for a 120W adapter.

If the power adapter were not capable of providing enough power the laptop would shut off. You need to set the Catalyst Control Center to run the dedicated video on an application by application basis. Find the executable for the game and set it to run on the high performance video chip by right clicking on it.

Ok. Im in the Catalyst Control Center. I dont see aything to assign my GPU per specific application.
I am in advanced view and I have these menus;
Pinned
Presets
Desktop Management
Video
Gaming
Power
Information
In the power menu I currently have my GPU as selected as "High Preformance GPU" which is currently active. Im assuming its the AMD 6770m.
In the Presets Menu its the only thing I can actually do to select an aplication .exe but it doesnt say anything about selecting a GPU.

Find a .exe for one of the games in the Program Files folder and right click on it. Does it give you the option to run with high performance video? Here is an explanation:

You may have fixed mode in which case you do not set the video adapter on an app by app basis.

Ok. I enabled Dynamic Graphics in my BIOS and now I see the option in the Catalyst Control Center>Switchable Graphics to assign an .exe or .ink to high preformance GPU. I set it to a game I already have on which is kinda low GPU demanding because Im having trouble with Steam at the moment loading so when I get it to run I will let you know the results.
