I'm planning to purchase a new laptop. The optical drives seem to be DVD±RW and I need to know if I'll still be able to burn my mix CD's that are playable in the car or on cd player in the house. I know I would still use a blank CD instead of a blank DVD since a DVD won't play in a CD player.
I've read mixed responses on this topic and it's been hard to get a straight answer.
To be clear, the CD's will not be played on a laptop, but a cd player in a car or home.
Thank you!!

Hi:
I make audio CD's to be played in my car all of the time using a DVDRW drive, and have for years.
You use the same recording software for DVD recordable drives that you do for CD recordable drives.
DVDRW drives can burn and play CD's as well as DVD's, and that is the only difference.
A CDRW drive can only burn and play CD's.
