DVD drive channel SATA speed

I have a laptop - "HP Notebook - 15-ay137cl"

I replaced the DVD drive to SSD("Samsung Evo 860"), but SSD works only at SATA 2 mode (3Gb/s).

Is it hardware restriction on DVD drive channel or SW problem ?

Normally ODD (Optical Disc Drive) drives use SATA 2, some older ones used SATA 1 that why I always say do not use caddy on ODD bay for SSD and for boot drive.

Hmmm, I have performed several tests and checks...

Win10 - after reboot, system recognizes SSD as SATA3 (system info, hwinfo64, samsung magician), after start of "Speed Test", "system interface speed" is droped to SATA2

Ubuntu18.04 (live dvd) - after reboot, system recognizes SSD as SATA3 (system info), after start of "Speed Test", several seconds it works as SATA3 (i see this on result graph), after the "interface speed" drops to SATA2

Intel chipset  supports "SATA Gen3 6.0 Gbps" on both channels on this board.
Thus, even if DVD-Drive has SATA2,  "DVD channel" should have support of "SATA Gen3 6.0 Gbps", if it is not "fixed" by HP.

Still try to focus on SW problem, did not find HW manual on port speed specification.

Notebook from 2016 and to have an “artificial” restriction on the interface - disrespectful.
