Bought a HP Pavilion 17" notebook last Xmas. I have been coping DVDs to Hard drive since then (proably over 1000 to date). The DVDRW has been intermitent and have been using external DVD RW. Notebook DVD burner returned an error today saying "CD burner dirty" and would not read DVD. Is there a solution to clean it easily or should I purchase another internal DVD unit? Thanks

Welcome to HP Forums! I have read your post and wanted to help.
I understand that you were trying to copy from DVD to laptop hard drive, but it stopped working and gave you error message of " CD burner dirty".
Below is a document may help:
