Envy 17
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased an SSD to make the computer faster.  I had added a 2nd drive before and already had the SATA ribbon cable for the 2nd drive.  When I removed the 2nd drive, my computer will not read the 2nd drive anymore.  I have since verified the SSD works and have windows installed.  I cannot, however, get the 2nd drive to work.

How do I know if I need a new ribbon cable or if the problem is on the motherboard?  I can buy another ribbon cable but if it is the board, why bother?  The cable itself seems fine and snaps into place as expected.

So neither the old HDD nor the new SSD is detected by the system now? Ouch. I can think of no other way to approach it than to buy a new cable and if that does not work we know for sure it is the motherboard. One other unlikely thing is to try cleaning the interface with alcohol and let it dry completely before snappling back in.

I was afraid of this but I was expecting this to be the response.  =(  I was hoping there was some utility but I also knew I was grasping at straws.  Thank you for the consideration.
