HP 15s-gr0500AU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Recently, I've noticed that my VRAM has increased to 2GB, and occupying my RAM, reducing it to 8GB. Now, I have extensive research on this topic in the forums, and these are usually the 'solutions' given:

1. Upgrade your RAM (Obviously not possible)

2. Increase system paging file size (Almost the same as Swap for Linux users)

3. The 2GB RAM is taken away by Microsoft PlayReady (If an DRM is able to access and fix how much VRAM is issued (at BIOS level, mind you) I should be able to access it as well)

4. 'HP implemented so and so security features...' (No, I don't want those 'security' features, I have paid for this laptop. Unless payment is done by HP even if I'm not under warranty, then you can have these features for as long as the warranty exists.)

So, if there is any answers apart from these that can help me reduce the amount of RAM that is allocated to VRAM at BIOS level, I'd be thankful.

  • Unselect Automatically manage paging file size for all drivesand select System Managed Sizeif it is not already selected. This is the preferred setting.
  • Optionally, you can adjust this setting manually by selecting Custom, entering numbers into the two fields under Custom, and then click the Setbutton:
  • In the first field, the number should be twice the amount of system memory (in MBs).
  • In the second field, the number should be four times the amount of system memory (in MBs).

I think I remember mentioning 'No Paging File' as not a valid solution in my original post..
