Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Upgrade the OS on this Notebook from WIN8.1 to WIN10.  The OS back up files on the 😧 drive are for 8.1, therefore useless.  I have stored some data files on 😧 and would like to get rid of those obsolete 8.1 backup files.  So many warnings about messing with the files on the 😧 drive.  I could format that 😧 drive to clear it, but don't want to move the date files for fear that the linkage to the apps they support would somehow be corrupted.

Any problems with just deleting those obsolete backup files?  Have to do anything special?

If you remove that partition and create a different one in its place, you will not get the messages about the Recovery partition filling up.

Sorry, but the Upgrade you did to Win10 rendered the HP Recovery information on 😧 now useless.  Keeping any of those files is just wasting valuable disk space.  Your best bet now, would be to remove the Recovery partition entirely and merge the free space with your OS partition.

If you want a tool that makes this easy to do, download this utility:  https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html

Good Luck

Thanks for your response.  Yes, I know those backup files in 😧 are useless, but I do want to keep the 😧 drive for data file storage, rather than deleting it.  That's why my question was about any known problems with my just deleting those obsolete files.

It's OK to delete the files in the 😧 drive -- but if you start using it, you'll start getting error messages about it filling up -- which you can't then turn off.

Better to delete the partition and create a new one, with whatever name you want.

That's an interesting problem.  Wonder if it would send that message if I used Quick Format to erase the drive?

Thanks for the heads up.

Is the built in Win 10 Disk Management facility sufficient to delete the Recovery 😧 drive partition, or should I get one of the FREE partitioning apps to do it?

If the latter, why?
