Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb2000 (90Q63AV)

I’ve recently started experiencing two major issues with my HP Victus 15 laptop:

1.Crashing on Game Launch: When I try to launch games like GTA IV or PES 2018, the laptop immediately restarts on the first attempt. On retrying, the game may run normally.

2.Screen Flickering: There’s intermittent screen flickering, especially noticeable when hovering over video previews on YouTube or during regular use when hardware acceleration is enabled in Chrome.

I’ve tried reinstalling and rolling back GPU drivers (currently on an older NVIDIA driver), updated Windows, and turned off Chrome’s hardware acceleration, which slightly reduced flickering. However, the crashing and display issues continue.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Experiencing crashing on game launch and screen flickering can be frustrating. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve these issues:

1. Crashing on Game Launch

Update Graphics Drivers:

Windows Update:

  • Click on the Start Menu, then Settings.
  • Select Update & Security, and then Windows Update.
  • Click on Check for updates and install any updates available.
  • Restart your computer.

Adjust Game Settings:

  1. Lower the graphical settings within the games (GTA IV and PES 2018) to reduce the strain on your laptop’s hardware.
  2. Ensure that the games are updated to their latest versions.

Check System Requirements:

  1. Verify if your laptop meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements for the games you are trying to play.
  2. Ensure that there are no other resource-intensive applications running in the background.

2. Screen Flickering

Update Display Drivers:

Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start Menu and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Display adapters section.
  • Right-click on your graphics driver (e.g., NVIDIA or AMD) and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software..

Disable Hardware Acceleration:

  1. In Browsers:
    • For Chrome:
      • Go to Settings > Advanced > System.
      • Turn off Use hardware acceleration when available.
      • Restart Chrome.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
