To: @erico I have heard that port replicator can only do duplicate screen, however I need extension screen.

Hi,

That is not true, we use not one but thousands of USB Port Replicators with DisplayLink certified and we can connect 2 external monitors (plus laptop monitor) and all 3 monitors contain different information. We use different brand but HP has

Hello,

I am just being a learner in this topic and trying to ind a possible solution.

Did you try VGA splitter cables?

Note : check the correct ports , as in the x cable or the Y cable

Like the one  :

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Y-Splitter-338285-008-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B0045JSO32/ref=sr_1_fkm...

NOt sure if the above will help.

Also,

as you had said you already have the adapter/ converter for the display port to VGA

if the similar cable is from display link :

Try these driver :

http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=750

http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=747

These drivers has helped for monitors and actual displays.

Also windows update is the most important step here.

Settings---Date and time --both the date and time zone should be automatic( from what I think one might be disabled)

Again :

Settings----accounts---check if the page has a pending windows verification

If yes it should say :

verify , click on it and verify the account

If not, please create a microsoft account  and then verify it.

Now,

Settings---windows update----click on check for updates.

There should be some windows update.

I have trust on the windows update as its had helped me a lot.

Restart once when all the updates are complete.

Please let me know if any of the solution works out.

Thank you.

Hi,

Please remove the VGA connection, ONLY use DP to VGA connection (ie one monitor) to see it works or not.

Hello devilmaycare, thanks for your detail reply!

I am afraid that I am not using a huge docking, but something like below:

therefore I am not sure if displaylink's driver would help...

also I am on Windows 10, not Windows 8.

Thank you.

I did see the product however there are no related drivers for this as this adapter does not require one. Could also be compatibility issues.

Please try a different cable, also I will suggest the VGA splitter cables.
