HP Spectre 13-ac000 x360 Convertible PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone,

I have just bought a HP Spectre x360 and now I want a docking station/port replicator so I can connect to two external monitors.

I have tried the HP Elite USB-C G2 dock, but I got the response that it was not compatible with the non-business HP devices. So which docks are? I need at least two DP/HDMI connectors, and preferebly charging.

Will 3rd party docks like Kensington SD3650 work? I have seen some comments about issues with 3rd party chargers. Will this affect a 3rd party dock?

I've got the HP Spectre x360 13-ae0xx and use the Pluggable linked below. It does charge the laptop with no problems up to this point. Of course, the HP popup comes up each time you plug it in.

Yeah I got the Kensington SD4600P. Also works perfectly. Completely insane that 3rd party docks work, but the HP original dock does not.

Embarrassing

I'm also looking for a DOCK. My Spectre arrives tomorrow and keep seeing contradictory messages about using the 13" Spectre x360 with the Elite dock.

What message did it give? Was it just the usual Not compatible HP PSU, which one can ignore?

Thanks

I didn't try the HP elite since so many were having issues with it. Went with the pluggable linked above. The hp popup box didn't mention compatibility but was more like HP recommends you use HP products(surprise surprise). To HP's credit, it is the least intrusive popup I've seen in a long time(in the background and I don't usually notice it until I am closing everything out for the day).

Hi thanks for that.

I was wondering what the OP had actually seen, but I'm glad tha the pop up isn't obtrusive for once!!!

Hi, I tried the Elite USB-C but never got it to work, even with HP support. Got the kensingtonSD4600P and it works perfectly. I get the popup, but it's just one click to close it down, and it doesn't come back until next time you plug it in.

Is there a difference between the 2 USB C ports?  When I use the forward port everything works (HDMI, USB A ports, power), but when I use the rear port the USB A doesn't work (HDMI and power do).

Has anyone tried  the Kensington SD5000t or Calidigit ts3 plus?

I am using the HP Elite USB-C Dock (PN: Z9R42AA) with my  HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-w0XX  (PN: X7V22UA#ABA ) and am not presently having any issues .  Did have issue with charging at first but problem was the motherboard in notebook.  HP replaced it and no problems after that.  Connected to one external display, HP Z27s, via DP, and 3 USB devices, Gigabit Ethernet.  Win 10 Pro x64.

Not sure why others are having so many problems.
