Pavilion dv7t quad edition
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I have Pavilion dv7t quad edition and am wondering if there is any document that lists the compatible hardware upgrades with that laptop. In particular can I replace the current 2nd gen i7 core that I have with 6th gen? If so, will I also need to upgrade to a newer DDR? Can I upgrade the whole motherboard? What other available motherboards that would be physically compatible with this model.
Thank you so much for the help,
Eliyah

Hi @ekilada,

I would like to inform you that there is no HP article or documents which will help you in the upgrade you are looking for. I recommend you purchase a new computer with the configuration you are looking at as replacing the motherboard and processor will cost you almost the same money.

Hope that answers your question.

This is a great document. Thank you so much! Before I accept as a solution, I was interested in upgrading the processor from the current i7 2nd gen to i7 6th gen. However I see that this processor is not one of the supported replacements. In fact the newest I could upgrade to is i7 3rd gen. Is there a way I could do what I want? For example, is there a document that recommends replacing the whole motherboard for example to support the 6th gen i7 and may be DDR4?

Thanks,
Eliyah
