HP Pavilion 15-cc101na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

First i would like to know that hdmi port on "HP Pavilion 15-cc101na" is version 2.0 or 1.4, as i am using a hdmi cable to connect with my 4k monitor (Lenovo Thinkvision X1) and it only runs on 30 hz (3840 x 2160) . On 3840x2160 resolution only 2 options are visible 29p Hz and 30p Hz, so it is because of the hdmi cable might be version 1.4 or the port on laptop is version 1.4. I am not sure about the hdmi cable i have whether it is 2.0 or 1.4. I will buy hdmi 2.0 cable if the port supports it.

Secondly, Thinkvision x1 monitor supports 4k display with usb c so i bought the cable Usb C to C but it is not connecting the display instead it gives me a notification that "display connection might be limited" and opens a help page "fix USB-C Problems" .

So how can i use 4k display on 60hz with my laptop. Please provide all the possible solutions. Can i use USB-C to DP adapter? for this purpose or simply using hdmi 2.0 cable would be sufficient. Also my laptop does not have a DP port.

Thank you

Not a lot of good news here. The HDMI port is v. 1.4. From the Manual:

● HDMI v1.4 supporting up to 1920×1080 @ 60Hz

See p.3:

Service manual

Also, the USB-C port does not provide an alt-DP signal.

USB Type-C SuperSpeed port When the computer is on, connects and charges a USB device that has a Type-C connector, such as a cell phone, camera, activity tracker, or smartwatch, and provides high-speed data transfer.

If it had alt-DP it would say so or be called a Thunderbolt-3 port.

I know of no way to use that laptop as the basis for driving a 4K monitor @60 hz,. Maybe someone else might.

No it is hardwired into the motherboard. It is what it is.
