Hi,

Does HP Laptop 15-bs0xx supports M.2 drives PCIe or just regular M.2 SATA drives?

Hi,

The service manual mentions M2 slot with support for M2 SATA3 SSD. (not M2 PCIe NVMe)

However, you will need to remove the bottom cover and check if the slot is present on the motherboard as sometimes in notebooks that did not come with M2 SSD the physical slot is missing. On page 45 of the service manual you can see the steps to remove the bottom cover:

M2 slot

So, if the slot is present you can install an M2 SATA3 SSD such as the M2 Samsung 860 Evo or similar of your desired capacity.

If the slot is not present, you can replace the 2.5" HDD with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD such as the 2.5" Samsung 860 Evo or similar.

It will give a great boost to the performance of the notebook.

Hope it helps,

David

Thanks Iomare,

It helped me a lot for finding me  a suitable Solid State Drive(SSD) for my notebook. Yes, my notebook has a dedicated m.2 slot for upgrading with a SSD. I would not prefer to replace HDD as my budget is tight and not able to buy 1tb ssd which is already fulfilled by my HDD for storage purposes of Photos , Music etc. Just wanna install my os in 250 GB SSD. Which will be either Samsung 860 evo or WD Green. Pl. Do me a favour by telling in practical life which one is faster and reliable. As on paper Samsung has a much more write speed than WD green . But in practical life is it worth spending 1500 more . Difference of 1-3 sec doesn't matter to me.

Thanks

Akshay

You're welcome Akshay,

Yes, the Samsung ones are considered the best. You probably will not really notice the difference.

In any case you will really notice the boost it will give to your machine. (whichever one you use)

Take care,

David
