HP Pavilion 15-ab522TX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have HP Pavilion 15-ab522TX laptop which I bought back in 2016. It came with 5400 rpm 1 TB Hard Drive which is now at the end of it's life. I get 100% disk usage pretty much all the time.

I would like to replace the hard drive with M.2 NVMe SSD. I searched and found that Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB is a good SSD.

But does the laptop I have supports it? If not then maybe I will have to replace the HDD with Samsung 860 SATA SSD instead.

So I have a couple of questions -

1) Does the laptop support M.2?

2) Does the laptop support M.2 NVMe?

Hi,

That is what you are going to need to do as it does nor support M2 SSDs

The best choice is the Samsung which you mentioned and you will have a great boost in the everyday performance of the PC.

On page 49 of service manual you can see the steps to install the drive.

A few months back, using a software I found that the motherboard in this laptop has PCI Express slot so I thought M.2 might be supported.
