HP ENVY x360 - 15-aq106ng
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey at all.

Who has a HP Envy X360 with an i7-8550u?

I know the single-core-max-speed is 4Ghz.

But whats the Turbo-Max with 2 Cores?

Can't find any information about this.

Think about upgrading from i5-7200u (Duo with 3,1Ghz Turbo) to i7-8550u with 4 Cores and 8 threads with max. Turbo 4 Ghz.)

Sincerely

Jogi

@Jogi_Bär,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP ENVY X360 - 15-Aq106ng (Z6K90EA) can only be fitted with 6th or 7th gen Intel processors, and a system board fitted with an i7-7500U (2-Cores, 4-Threads, 2.70 GHz up to 3.50 GHz) with HP p/n: 858871-601 being the fastest.  Meaning, you'll have to swap your entire system board to upgrade to this processor.  You could purchase this system board through eBay Germany, but they are way pricey, and not worth-it in my opinion: HP 858871-601 online kaufen | eBay.

Theoretically, if the i7-7500U was swappable/upgradeable (which it is not), the best processor for your laptop would be an i7-7600U (2-Cores, 4-Threads, 2.80 GHz up to 3.90 GHz), but that is not an option.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Hey NonSquitur

Thank you for your answer.

Yes, I would have to, but it is worthy.

Because I paid 999€ in January 2017 for my laptop.

Until today I had to invest 75€ for a keyboard unit and an accu. 1400€ in total since 2017.

A new motherboard with an i7-8550u on it would cost round about 300€.

If I would sell my actual laptop now, I would get only 250-350€.

So, I would have to pay on top of that more than 300€ to get a new modern HP-laptop, which will be an average one in 5-7 yrs from now.

Thats why I will buy this other mainboard for 300€ and save 600€ totally............because ((999*2)-1100-300).

And if I would sell my old motherboard for 80-100€, I would save 680-700€.

Sincerely

Jogi
