Hardware monitoring utilities such as Speedfan detect no fan, and I don't hear one. Does my HP Laptop 17-cn3xxx computer have a fan, or does it rely only on passive cooling?

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, that I wouldn't know.

I don't use either of those apps.

If the notebook is running hot,  the fan will come on/speed up.

If the fan wasn't working properly, The BIOS would report a fan error.

Yes, your notebook has a CPU fan.

Only the notebooks with the Pentium and Celeron processors have no fan.

Thank you. It's so quiet I never hear it go on. Why isn't it detectable in Speedfan or HWMonitor?

Okay, not getting any errors on post, so I guess it's just really quiet, even when the cpu is under full load.

That's great news that the notebook is running cool.
