I found I believe in to be a M.2 slot in my laptop 15-db0051od.image.jpg I would like to know if I could use it to add a M.2 SSD and what kind it supports a SATA or NVMe drive.

Hi:

Yes, you found the M.2 slot.

According to the Crucial report, it only supports M.2 SATA SSD's, not the faster performing NVMe ones.

Here is the Crucial memory report for your notebook which lists compatible M.2 SATA SSD's...

Do all M.2 SATA SSD’s have both the B and M slots because my port looks like it only has an M slot.

Yes they do, and it will fit just fine.

I'm going to throw a monkey wrench into this discussion...

If you look at the service manual for your notebook, chapter 1 shows that NVMe drives are supported.

So the $64,000 question is:

Why does Crucial only list SATA M.2 drives and HP says NVMe drives will work?

Your notebook also has the newer Ryzen processor.

I could understand why the older 7th generation AMD processors may have SATA M.2 slots, but the Ryzen's could have NVMe.

So...what to do, what to do...I'll leave that up to you to decide.  Go with the sure thing...SATA, or take a gamble and go with the much faster NVMe?
