I want to switch to an ethernet cable, but I don't know if my laptop supports ethernet.

According to the product specs it does support ethernet.

Network interface
Integrated 10/100/1000 GbE LAN

 

Chapter 2, page 7 of the service manual at the link below shows the location of the ethernet port (labeled as #1).

 

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

 

There is a plastic flap the semi-covers the port that you gently press down to insert the cable.
