I am looking forward to upgrade my laptop's processor from the Intel Core2 Duo T5250 to the Intel Core2 Extreme X9000. It's compatible with my laptop's chipset but I don't know will it run perfectly because the TDP is 44W which is 9W higher than the T5250's TDP moreover I don't know whether the latest BIOS for the HP Pavilion dv6500 supports the Extreme X9000 processor .Also I don't know whehther the motherboard supports the processor. Could you please help me ?
Chipset : Intel GM965 Express Chipset
BIOS : Version F.5A

Hi, @DeckardShaw
I have aleady given you the latest BIOS update for your PC in reference to this discussion.
It will support up to the T9500 with the BIOS update you installed.
Yes, the X9000 processor will work. See this discussion...the screenshots in the discussion show an even older BIOS revision than the one you have now.

Here is the Service Manual:
The top listed 2.2 ghz processor is a T7500. I seem to recall there may be a BIOS update that allows up to a T9600 but I have never seen any indication that a Core 2 Extreme X series will work.
HP has removed download support for that model so very difficult now to go back and find the BIOS upgrades and see the release notes to recall if I am right about the possible processor upgrades. @Paul_Tikkanen might know.
