Thank you for your help, it is appreciated! I'm shipping my laptop to HP and the technician said to remove the battery but I am assuming he meant for me to remove it if it was a "removable" battery and not an internal one--don't you agree?

This is what they may have meant.
Prior to servicing a notebook that ships with a non-removable battery, you need to ensure that the battery is disconnected from the system.
Using Ship Mode To Disconnect The Battery:

Try this method???
- Power the computer off
- Connect the AC adapter
- Press and hold Windows+ Backspace keys
- Power the computer on
- Let go of the buttons when the HP logo appears and disconnect the AC adapter
- The computer will either: Power off and be in Ship Mode or Boot into Windows and then enter Ship Mode the next time it is shut down
- If it does boot to Windows shut down.
- Do not connect the AC adapter.
- Push the power button.
- If it is in Ship Mode it will not power-on.
- To take it out of Ship Mode connect the AC adapter and power-on.
Let me know what you find???
