The 16-xd0020ax notebook only has support for one M.2 NVMe SSD.

The 16-xf0xxx model series is the one that has support for two M.2 NVMe SSDs'.

Can I add extra storage to it other than ssd ? 1tb sounds a little less

There is no support to install a 2.5" drive or another M.2 NVMe SSD, but you can replace the existing 1 TB NVMe SSD with a 2 TB or 4 TB drive, your needs permitting:

It is shared by both the xd and xf models which is why it shows two SSD positions.

HP offered NVMe SSDs up to 2 TB in storage capacity in the model series, but that is just what they offered, not the maximum capacity supported.
