Please read the manual, you need

  • Hard drive board part # L52024-001
  • Hard drive cable part # L52025-001

Parts with prefix "L" are new and not available , for example

    http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=L52025-001

I could not find anywhere including eBay. Please talk with  HP authorized service provider parts in your country. They will help you or you have to wait for few more months, HP may stock new parts.

Regards.

Hi BH,

I have now the same problem. I need these following parts and I didn´t find them anywhere.

  • Hard drive board part # L52024-001
  • Hard drive cable part # L52025-001

I have the following Hardware:

Now my Question. Is it possible to use alternative HDD Flexcable / Hard drive cable from other HP Models? Do you know if there are pin compatibility Versions on the market which I can use? For Example I found some :

Or do you have an Pinout Matrix wehre I can see the pinout of the Flex Cable.

Thanks

I have the same same problem.  I was astonished at what a piece of crap my brand new HP 15t series notebook is when if came with a 15 year old technology display that gets blurry and discolored if I move my head even just a couple inches.  Then I found that the wifi card can't see my 5Ghz wiki router because it too is ancient crap.  So I had to buy a new display that's actually IPS and a new wifi board that is at least usable.  Now when I open my laptop up to install the new parts, I'm also planning to install my 1TB 2.5" SSD drive.  But guess what?  Despite also being told that I could expand the storage by adding such a drive... there is no drive board!  There is no cable.  There are no mounting brackets.  It just boggles the mind what a piece of crap company HP has become.  Now I'm searching for THOSE parts!  And of course NONE of the parts I needed before or the ones that I need now are 'in stock' and can actually be ordered.  They don't stock anything as far as I've been able to see, yet they still go to the trouble of having a parts site and search tools to give the illusion that they do.  Of course I will never purchase from HP again.  That goes without saying.

UPDATE:  After a very thorough search, even contacting sellers in China, HP service centers, etc., it appears that the parts needed to add a 2.5" HDD/SSD to the supposedly expandable dozens of different laptop/notebook models, are not available fro HP or anyone else on earth it seems.  I can't find any 3rd party equivalents.  What kind of despicable company just repeatedly lies to its customers like this?  Having to buy extra parts in order to add a drive when the laptop is described as being able to accept a 2.5" drive is a big enough lie.  Then finding out that people have been searching for these parts for many months and that HP doesn't sell them takes lie to all new levels.  What complete BS.

Hey AndyUkasick,

so you have found an rudimentary Solution to connect an separate HDD Drive into your Notebook? Can you please tell me hard drive cable and board you found which is working with your Hardware.

k but actually there isn`t a distributor where I can find these cable. So there is no possibility for an other cable. So every HP Notebook has a different Pinning? Is this correct?

Do you know if the flex cable has 8 or 10 Pins. Because the most I found are 10 Pinning Flex-cable the only think which I didn`t found was the Pinning and the Pitch of these cables. Is these the same for every Notebook. For me it would make sense that the Pinning should be always the same only the length of these cables are different.

I found these one ... Link to Flex Cable

Can you please tell me a rudimentary solution how I can upgrade my new notebook with an additional 2TB HDD?

Hi Mivolis - I'm very sorry to say that the part I purchased will not work.  It appears that neither HP nor anyone else in the world as far as I can tell makes or stocks the parts.  I cannot find any 3rd party equivalents.  If that ever changes I'll reply again.  I can't express how disgusted i am with the way HP has repeatedly lied to its customers.  People have been getting told to buy these parts by HP for many months.  Always HP has no stock.  HP tells people to wait for the parts to be stocked... months go by and nothing is ever stocked.  They appear to have never been stocked.   I've yet to find anyone who has found a solution.   This was a very specific question that i asked of HP before I bought the laptop.  i was assured that I could add my 1TB 2.5" SSD drive by sales and HP's documentation also says so.   We were simply lied to.

The cable you saw might be compatible, but it says that it is cable only and doesn't include the board.  If you succeed in finding anything, please let me know as well.

(Note: I also posted this same message in response to your questions here https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/quot-L52025-001-quot-Upgrade-a...)

Sorry for the late response. I was on vacation for the past week.

It is an 8 pin cable.  And... I THINK I FOUND ONE!

According to HP's parts database the same part (both board and cable) is used in a "15s-dy0005TX" model laptop.  If that is in fact true, then I found a vendor who sells it.   I emailed over a dozen different vendors in many different countries.  Only one replied with a part that appears to be correct.  All others just said that it was not available.  I provided them with the full list of models that HP says it is used in.  I'll put a copy of that at the bottom of this reply.

Here is a link to the part:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y9MTWB5  I ordered one and it should arrive in two days.  I sure hope that it works!  If HP deletes the above link from my post, just search amazon for "B07Y9MTWB5".   This is the description "Deal4GO SSD SATA Hard Drive Cable with HDD Caddy Bracket for HP 15s-dy 15s-dy0005TX 15s-dy0006TX 15s-dy0002TX DD0G75HD011".

Let's hope that this works!  If so it will salvage a terrible situation.  I've never before seen a case where a vendor said that a laptop had a 2.5" HDD/SSD bay when what it really has is just had a hollow space big enough for a drive, but with no ability to to actually connect a drive.  And that the only way to do so was to buy more parts, that are not even available and self-install them.  Which I imagine will void the warranty.  Unbelievable.

Here is the list of laptop models that HP's parts db says use those same two parts.  NOTE that it does NOT contain your laptop model.  That does not make me feel good about the accuracy of the data.  My model is a 15T-DW100.

Thanks for your support and your solution. It was a long way but now I got the solution I want. The Cable Adapter from your link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y9MTWB5 arrived a few weeks ago and now I were able to test it and it is working.

I attached a few pictures of the solution for all persons who have the same problem.
