Hi again,
I'm in the process of getting my new laptop up and running. Looking at device manager, I seem to have three "unknown devices" listed. I know that at least two of them must be USB ports, because only one port seems to work.
Here are the hardware IDs.
1st:
ACPI\HPQ6007
*HPQ6007
2nd:
ACPI\INT3400
*INT3400
3rd:
ACPI\MSFT0101
*MSFT0101
Thanks in anticipaton!

Hi:
You need these drivers...
ACPI\HPQ6007
Receives notifications from the integrated accelerometer and automatically parks the hard drive to reduce the risk of damage if the PC is accidentally dropped.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp77501-78000/sp77869.exe
ACPI\INT3400:
This package contains the driver that enables the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework firmware. Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework provide system temperature and power utilization information for the system thermal protection to function properly. This package is provided for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp75501-76000/sp75506.exe
ACPI\MSFT0101: I have zipped up and attached the Microsoft Hotfix you need for the TPM 2.0 device to work in W7.
Download, unzip and run the hotfix.
I had already given you the link to the USB 3 driver. That should have gotten the USB3 ports to work.
This package contains the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74501-75000/sp74851.exe
If the USB 2 ports aren't working, the only other driver that may affect the USB2 ports not working would be not having the Intel chipset installation utility driver installed.
So, if you did not install that, here it is. You should install this driver first and restart the PC.
This package contains the Intel Chipset Installation Utility. This utility enables the operating system to show the correct name for the installed Intel hardware in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager. This package is provided for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

Sorry, I've just realised that sp75506 won't install. I've also realised I can't tell if my laptop has a graphics card. I tried installing some games and none of them worked. I'm aware that's another issue and will post elsewhere if I'm supposed to.

Hi:
Try manually installing the driver for the ACPI\INT3400:.
The driver I posted does have support for that device, as you can see by this partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file below...
;-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; Manufacturer and Models Section
;-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Manufacturer]
%INTEL% = INTEL, NTamd64.6.1, NTamd64.6.3
[INTEL.NTamd64.6.1]
%INT3400.DeviceDesc% = EsifManager,ACPI\INT3400
To manually install the driver...Click on the unknown device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the driver file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp75506.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
Graphics... See if this video driver works...
This package provides the driver that enables the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

OK, my "unknown devices" have been replaced with two others which say "PCI device" and "PCI Simple Communications Controller", neither of which have drivers. I tried installing the sp75506.exe manually, but the computer says it can't find it.
...OK, I tried that driver for the graphics, and the system actually told me "This may not have installed correctly". Just not having any luck here.

Hi:
You need these drivers for the PCI simple comms controller and the PCI dev:
This package provides the Intel Management Engine Components Driver for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp79001-79500/sp79254.exe
The Realtek USB and PCIe Media Card Reader Drivers enable the integrated media card slot in supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp75001-75500/sp75104.exe
Unfortunately, I can't help you with the INT 3400. That driver should have worked, because I have given it to several other forum members with notebooks that have the same hardware and it worked.
Try this Intel graphics driver...
This package provides the Intel video drivers, control panel and display audio driver for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78001-78500/sp78116.exe

Thanks for your help so far.
Unfortunately, when trying to install the graphics one, I got an error message saying "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." I'm surprised, because it's a pretty good laptop.

You're very welcome.
Try the driver directly from Intel...1st driver on the left is the auto install file.
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26669/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-
If that one doesn't work, we will try to force install it next.
