ENVY 17 3070nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Currently two 4GB memory modules of hynix SO DIMM PC3 12800 DDR3 (@1600MHz)  are installed.

From googling , this memory module operates at 1.5V.

I'd like to upgrade memory to PC3 12800 16GB (8G x 2).

I searched a good for notebook memory in online store. It is "Samsung 8G PC3L 12800 DDR3 (@1600MHz)"

BTW, this memory module operates at low power volatge 1.35V.

Is it allowed to install this kind of low power memory module on my laptop ENVY17 3070NR?

or only allow memroy module what operates at 1.5V?

Thanks

Albert

Hi, Albert:

Below is the link to the Crucial memory report for your notebook.

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/envy-17-3070nr

All but one of their memory kits are DDR3L.

It is my understanding that DDR3L will run at 1.5V if necessary, but DDR3 1.5V memory will not run at 1.35V.

If you are interested, you can buy crucial memory in Korea.

Change the country flag at the top right of the page to select Korea.
