Hello, I just bought an EliteBook 840 G5 model used, but Ī noticed that some keys are not typing or malfunctioning. For example, when I type ī (CTRL, SHĪFT), it doesn't print anything. I entered this issue with "India (English)" keyboard as a work around that still creates other issues. When Ī enter 8. īt takes to the beginning of the line (Home key ), when I type K key, It increases volume (VOLUME KEY). I followed several articles in hp and other web sites and found similar issues with solution, but none of them worked for me.
Ī used the following link to test the keyboard and found that the above reported keys have been mapped to multiple keys like Ī mapped to CTRL and SHĪFT keys.
https://keyboardtester.io/tester/
This website shows following key mappings
i - CTRL + SHIFT
k - VOLUME control
8 - HOME
Down Arrow - NONE
Since it is a used laptop, Ī can't return it, it's very frustrating that Ī wasted some money on this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
