Hi!
I have recently purchased an HP EliteBook 860 16 inch G10 (Core-i7, 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD) notebook with Win11 Pro pre-installed.
Planning for the long-term and knowing that windows is running smoother with more RAM available I have also purchased 2x32 GB DDR5 4800 MHz SODIMM Kingston modules. (According to technical specifications the maximum RAM is 64GB and the modules where chosen via Kingston's memory finder.)
The system collapsed at first run and later at several attempts either during boot process or after few minutes of running the OS. I had no other option but to reinstall windows with the original 16GB RAM module. Then replaced the RAM by new, 2x32GB 5200 MHz modules but the same happened.
I am trying to find a solution to run my notebook with 64GB RAM and wondering if anyone would have such experience with this machine. Might that be a default of the product I bought or have I purchased both times faulty RAM modules or has this model some kind of conflict with the RAM modules from this manufacturer?
Thanks for any advice/solution in advance!

Normally adding RAM or replacing RAM on HP business machines requires HP parts using HP specs (and very expensive) even from a different manufacturer. In your case, please use 32 GB (DDR5-4800) part # N05331-001
Regards.

Hi Banhien,
thanks for your swift response. I would look (and hope) for other solutions and keep it as a "last resort" if nothing else would work.
On the other hand:
- in the techspec it is really recommended to use HP modules but that shall not exclude other options: current 16GB RAM is an SK Hynix product, which is also not cheap but cheaper than similar HP products;
- both Kingston and Crucial (and I assume other experienced manufacturers as well) recommend their own products for this special notebook (and they aren't cheap either), so I assume they have tested as well. Maybe I should contact them directly.
Regards

FYI: I bought compatible RAM for my HP Elitebook 840 G5 from Crucial and it did not work. I had to get part # from HP manual and ordered from Amazon. No no problem so far.
Please don't ask me why.
Regards.
