Recently my computer starting randomly shutting down. About a month ago it wouldn't turn on and the LED indicator by the charge port wouldn't turn on. After trying a new charger I decided to go with a new Dc Input Jack and a new Power button board. The troublemaker was the power button board and as soon as I replaced it, it started working.
After two weeks of working with it the computer restarted twice and yesterday night I turned it off and now it won't turn on. The LED indicator is once again off and trying the DC input jack and the power button is not working.
My computer is less than 4 years old and would really appreciate some help to get it to work again.
Extra information that may be unrelated:
I had been having trouble keeping my computer clock in sync so I thought that the internal battery(circular clock one) could be a problem but I do not know how to test that theory. Also I may be wrong about that diagnostic.

@Fergzlz It's highly unlikely that the same power button board is faulty again, however, before we conclude anything,
Have you attempted to connect the device to an alternate power cord or adapter?
Or check with another wall outlet, excluding any surge protectors to check if it works?
While you respond to that, here's the best way to resolve the issue, using the HP Guided Troubleshooter:
CLICK HERE FOR STEP BY STEP GUIDE
(simply select your description of the issue from the bottom of the screen to gain access to the next set of steps that should resolve your concern).
If the above doesn't help or the steps are insufficient, check the below steps:
Let's start with a hard reset of your notebook computer before you try any other troubleshooting steps.
Reasons for a hard reset
A hard reset has the following effects:
-
Clears the memory.
-
Reestablishes the connection between the BIOS and the hardware
The following conditions can be helped by the hard reset:
-
Windows stop responding.
-
The display suddenly goes blank.
-
The computer does not wake from sleep or hibernate modes.
-
Software applications freeze or fail to respond.

Hi Riddel_Decipher,
The hard reset didn't fix the problem. Actually, after following the steps to reset the CMOS battery the computer worked properly for about a week before dying again. This prompted me to unplug and replug the CMOS battery and it worked right away.
Right now the fix seems to be a faulty CMOS battery but I can't seem to find a battery that comes attached to the proper Molex Pin connector. I cannot find the right way to identify the connector.
Any suggestions?
