I've got a Envy 17t with the common issue of the hinges being detached from the case. I've already purchased a new top cover with keyboard once and repaired the issue myself. The hinges are obviously too stiff for this laptop. My understanding is that there is some kind of class action lawsuit against HP for this common issue. HP needs to step up to the plate and take care of the issue.
I am not interested in sending my laptop to some service center and being without it for weeks. HP should send me another top panel with keyboard and a new set of hinges so I can repair this thing myself permanently. These parts should be provided free of charge.
