We bought our HP Envy x360 laptop in late 2018 from Costco in preparation to replace our older computer. I thought that the HP-Costco-Citi relayed 4-year warranty would well cover us. I was even happier when we started using it in Feb. 2019 and saw that HP online record showed the one-year manufacture's warranty was from Feb. 2019 to Feb.2020. Not long after the one-year manufacturer's warranty expired in Feb. 2020, the hinge issue came up. The laptop still has Year2 to Year4 warranty covered by Costco and Citi card benefits but we could not get a requested repair quote right away because of factors such as its being used every day, the stay-at-home orders, etc. When we finally were able to go to the HP certified repair center available within 50 miles, UBreakIfix, they could only provide a non-repair statement because the top case needed was unavailable indefinitely. In searching for repair options, I found that this was in fact a pretty common design flaw in many envy laptops as https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Envy-X360-Hinge-broken/m-p/...

Because of this experience, we returned two HP laptops recently purchased from Costco. I hope someone seeing this post can help us find a feasible repair solution.
