I cannot read or write DVD-RAM disc.  Is there another driver I need? DVD-RW disc work fine.

Please try the following fix:

 

    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us

 

otherwise you may need available firmware.

 

(a) Look at Device Manager to see its model,

(b) Use its model to search for firmware.

Hi,

 

Please use VSO Inspector to check

 

    https://www.raymond.cc/blog/download/did/1277/

 

It will show you the ODD on your computer supports DVD RAM or not. For example the following one does support DVD-RAM but not HD DVD-RAM

 

          VSO Inspector
