HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ew0000 (549V4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, after I broke the screen on my Envy x360 15-ew I purchased a replacement screen assembly (the whole upper assembly with hinges).

After installation everything is working fine except that the laptop will not go into tablet mode when the screen is flipped back.

Is this rather a problem with the screen replacement (broken sensor?) or something with drivers?

With the cracked screen everything worked fine until a fitted the new one.

I did already fresh install Windows, no change.

How does the sensing of the screen tilt angle even work?

Hi @ibimslars

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with your HP ENVY x360 after replacing the screen assembly.

Here are a few suggestions that might help you resolve the issue of the laptop not entering tablet mode:

Check Connections: Ensure that all connections between the screen assembly and the main body of the laptop are secure and correctly attached. Sometimes, sensors and connectors related to the device's orientation may not be properly attached.

Driver Update: Update or reinstall your system drivers. Go to the HP Official Support, enter your laptop's serial number, and search for driver updates specific to your model. Ensure that you have the latest drivers, especially for the chipset and sensor-related components.

Windows Update: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security, and check for Windows updates. Sometimes, updates can resolve issues with system features.

Sensor Calibration: Calibrate any sensors if possible. Sensor calibration settings are usually found within the system's settings or BIOS, which can occasionally help restore proper functionality.

BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your device. Sometimes a BIOS update can address hardware compatibility issues.

System Troubleshooting: Use the Windows troubleshooting tools to identify any hardware or software issues. This can be accessed via Settings > System > Troubleshoot.

Hello, the problem unfortunately still persists.

I have reseated the two display cables.

Drivers: I have (re)installed all available drivers for my model from the HP website.

My Windows is up to date.

I was not able to find any sensor calibration or similar in the BIOS.

BIOS is updated.

Also, I could not find a Windows troubleshooting related to sensors.

The exact model is 15-ew0778ng (78S49EA) by the way

Additionally, I also installed the newest Intel Integrated Sensor Hub (ISH) drivers (if that even has to something with it), but no change.  And there are not unrecognised devices in the device manager.
