Pavillion dv7T
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I ran a short and long hard drive diagnostic and received two error messages 94ML22-64R9T5-QFPK1G-60V803 and 94ML22-64R9T5-QFPK1G-61DG03. I believe my 32gb solid state cache may be failing. Can anybody tell me about these error codes?

Hi:

All the codes translate to is Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure and Hard Disk 1 Full Test Failure respectively.

What it means is that you will have to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

You may want to consider replacing the hybrid drive with a regular 2.5" SSD instead.

After you replace the hard drive you can reinstall W10 for free as follows...

Use the Microsoft media creation tool at the link below to create a bootable W10 installation flash drive.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Can I determine if the error code is telling me the hard drive is failing and not the cache drive?

HP Recommended

No, that is all the code translates to.

See for yourself...

Your PC has one of those 32 GB mSATA SSD caches, correct?

I think the easiest thing to do would be to remove the 32 GB SSD cache and the hard drive and just put a 2.5" SSD in place of both.

I’m pretty sure Disk 1 is the 32 go drive. Is there a way I can isolate and not use it short of physical removal. It’s not accessible through the hard drive access door I think.

HP Recommended

That I wouldn't know.

You can check the service manual for how to remove the SSD cache.

I am pretty sure that the regular hard drive will not work correctly with the SSD disabled or removed.

That is why I recommended scrapping both and getting a standard 2.5" SSD.

There is a special way you need to install Windows when you have a hybrid drive setup like your notebook has, and I don't know what it is.

You can google it.
