Looking to upgrade current Realtek PCle FE Family Controller to something that can handle the newer/faster speeds. Am paying Comcast for 400+ mbps download speeds. Current card can't go over 100mpbs on ethernet, but can get +/-400mbps on wifi bands.

Can I upgrade this card to something faster for ethernet? If so, what?  I've seen some posts about using a USB dongle, but this unit only has USB2, not USB3, so I think that's a limiting factor for that approach.

Hi:

Unfortunately, that is not possible as the ethernet adapter is an integral part of the motherboard.

...and I think you are right about the USB gigabit ethernet adapters.

You won't get the full 1 GBPS connection speed out of one from a USB 2 port, but I would have to think you should get more than 100 MBPS from one.

Thanks for the quick response and confirmation that this port is part of the motherboard.  That nails the question of upgrading the speed that way.

You're very welcome.
