I keep getting "Failed to Extract Cab" for every thing I have downloaded from HP support website; firmware, drivers, etc. As soon as I try to install the drivers (ANY Drivers or Firmware), I get an error "Failed to Extract Cab." This is happening for more than one HP Spectre X360 Laptops.

@PThach I suggest you create a new user account and check if that works fine,
Also, To resolve most HP Support Assistant issues by downloading and installing the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the HP Support Assistant website.

Hello,
Thanks for your response.
I download and attempt to install the latest HP Support Assistant tool and got the same error - "Failed to Extract Cab" - on all 3 Spectre X360 laptops that I tried to install it on.

if that happened to me with on three different laptops of the very same model, it would lead me to consider an external issue as a probable cause.
1) the browser. Try different browsers
2) the internet connection.
Test your internet connection for stability. A bandwidth test would be appropriate for that. YOU should consider resetting your internet modem. Try an internet connection other than the one you normally use. Go to a coffee shop.
Provide us with the product number of your laptop and the specific file names that you tried. I would like to see if I can replicate the issue you are having. Sometimes it does happen to be the files, but not very often.

I had the same issue recently - I downloaded the software I needed from HP's website using Microsoft Edge then I was getting the 'Failed to extract cab' error when selecting the destination path.
I re-downloaded using Google Chrome and the message never appeared during installation.

I am having this same issue with an HP Probook 450 G7. I've tried downloading updates via HP Support Assistant, AND downloading directly to the machine using Chrome. All updates from HP fail with the same "unable to extract CAB" error. No other software is having an issue installing, except for HP specific software. Copied the same installation files over to another laptop and they were able to run, so it's definitely something local to this laptop, and only to HP software.
