HP Pavilion X360
Microsoft Windows 11

I just purchased a new HP Pavilion X360 convertible laptop last week. Since I first started the laptop up the fan noise has been constant and excessive. Even when the laptop is shut and and not in use the fan is running constantly. It is very distracting and if the problem persists I will have to return the laptop. I have searched for every possible solution but none of them seem to work on this type of laptop.

Is there a way for me to safely control or reduce the fan power?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • Have you tried updating the system Bios?

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Shut down the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat.

  • Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in memory and enable you to use the computer again, even if only for a short time, to access and save any important files before service.

For more information on performing a hard reset, see Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues.

  • In some cases, updating the BIOS might help prevent the noisy operation from occurring. For more information on how to update the BIOS, see Updating the BIOS.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I have not made any changes to the computers settings. I did update the laptop to Windows 11. It also doesny make sense that the fans could need cleaning as this is a new laptop.

I tried updating the BIOS but there is no updates available at the moment. Any solutions I have seen relating to the BIOS are for Windows 10 but I currently have Windows 11.

Thank you for posting back.

I did go through the driver software page and found out Windows 11 drivers are not available as of now, however, Microsoft will roll out the latest updates and patches for windows 11 earliest possible.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
