Two SODIMM memory module slots, non-customer-accessible/non-upgradable DDR4-2400 dual channel support (DDR4-2666 bridged to DDR4-2400; on computer models equipped with an Intel Core i7-8550U or Intel Core i5-8250U processor) ... Supports up to 16-GB of system memory
Since your model has the i5-8250U processor you need DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM memory and you can add an 8 gig module to have 16 gigs total. And, it is well known that the Manual does not mention you can actually upgrade to 2 x 16 gigs for 32 gigs total.
DDR4-2666 is very new but is available out there:
As for the storage, you already have the fastest kind there is; a PCIe/NVME M.2 SSD. You can upgrade that disk to a 512 gig or 1 TB or even larger but there is only one such slot so you would have to toss the original disk. You can also add a regular mechanical 2.5 inch wide SATA disk but to do so you would have to locate and buy the caddy and cable as your laptop will not ship with them.

No you can put it right inside the laptop where the blue rectangle with rounded corners is. However, if you order a laptop that only has an M.2 disk, HP will not include the tray (caddy) and cable connector needed to install such a hard drive. Likely can be purchased from HP Parts but might cost $50-70 for both parts on top of the price of the hard drive.
