Hi there,
Some help with this would be hugely appreciated.
My laptop seems to be needlessly hot when running basic tasks. I have done all steps recommended by HP (including coolsense, etc) to little avail. As it stands the temperatures are unaccaptable as I purchased this expensive machine intending to use it for many years to come; the high temperatures are not helping with that.
I very much want to repaste the laptop as pasting is notoriously sub-par in most laptops. I would be using a high quality, premium brand: Noctua NTH-1, a non-conducive paste. I am experienced with DIY computer and laptop repair/upgrading and so I am very confident there would be no damage done.
According to the law, a consumer is very much entitled to the modification of the product with the burden of proof falling on the manufacturer.
And so, I am assuming that my EU warranty of 2 years, as well as the additional year of HP care for a total 3 years, would not be affected by my repasting of the laptop, as long as there was no damage done to teh laptop, correct?
Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They do not really like us to discuss legal issues here. But the general understanding of warranty policy is consistent with your thinking. However, I would not be so sure that thermal pasting is the issue. I really suspect you can do the repaste perfectly and using the highest quality materials and you will not achieve significant improvement. Have you attempted to receive warranty assistance from HP? I hate to see you open it and even create a crack in the armor of your warranty protection if there is something more profound going on than thermal pasting. I am going to "flag" the post for an HP Moderator and let's see if we can't get you some help.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

Thank you kindly for your reply.
From what I have read the reapplication of thermal paste has allowed a fall in temperature of a few degrees Celsius, and just about any improvement in temperatures would be appreciated. I am aware that this is an ultraportable, although I was expecting more reasonable temperatures.
I think another issue is the fact that there is no control of the fan speed allowed. I'd much rather have the fans rack up to keep CPU temperatures low and thermal oscillations in control instead of having a silent but slowly dying machine.
Thanks for your help and time!
