Just saw that this thread is marked as solved? Anyone know if that means no HP representative is reading the latest info or if we are just complaining to our selfs?

Halo HP !!! The problem is not resolved !! Given tips do not work, monitors constantly flashing. Perhaps his grace do something. Do I really have to give this equipment and demand repayment of money?

I called on this very issue last month, and the HP rep acted like it was an issue she never heard of.  Some of our HP 840 G3s (windows 10) are ok after all the patches, but there's a couple that have the blinking issue, and also the sound that only plays on the laptop if plugged into the docking station.  I'm definitely going to ask for Dell laptops from now on when we get our refresh order.

In case you don't find the solution here (as I didn't).

Check my post at this one, cellular interference issue:

Cheers.

These HP folks are rude - we are swithing to DELL as a company

HP people suck in fixing anything. The whole department could not function and lost productivity.

We had a terrible response and no way they were going to fix it.

Screw HP and welcome Dell

Crazy fix!

I wanted to check the display cable that came with monitor.

I plugged in directly to laptop, NOT ON THE DOCK. Elitebook 840 G3,  purchased Summer 2016, and the external monitor displayed the laptop image. Elite Display E232.

I unconnected and then connected the display port cable to docking station. I dont know the model but its HP.  Thin, very small.

I left the laptop on and docked it. I locked it. Then I did Fn+F4. Display is on and has laptop image. No flickers yet, only been 5 minutes. I have the latest BIOS and graphics from HP site after it detected the laptop.

Good luck and fast speed.

Hi Yes!!  we also have an issue with Elitebook 820g3  going to 1024*768 on one of the external monitors when docking/undocking,  sometimes have to reboot to correct, othertimes just closing and opening the lid will correct it, othertimes need to manually turn the resolution back up.

have seen this on multiple 820 g3's  using HP's image as well as our Enterprise image,

makes it hard when we also have this flickering problem on a g3 laptops and g2 desktops which could be some shielding problem ,  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/External-Dual-Monitors-and-Laptop-scre...

Same issue here and only on the DP input.  I've updated the 2.3 firmware but nothing, tried disabling the windows error reporting but nothing, tried disabling the extended idle power states and nothing.  My issue is when I dock or wake up from sleep.

I haven't done the BIOS yet, not sure what success rate this has had
