That is your call but is certainly one way to approach it. You might try a new hard drive in it just to see if that fixes the issues. I think its worth a $50 investment to maybe avoid buying a new laptop if that one still meets your needs. But I also think there is a chance you have something worse than a bad hard drive going on. And the report that you had heating issues kind of backs that up.

We have access to a translator if you post the error Code. But it will provide far less information than you hope for. Likely it will just confirm the hard drive has failed and yes it needs replacement. Odds are strong that most data can be recovered with a usb to SATA adapter but its a case by case thing depending on exactly how the old drive failed.

This is the error code translation:
Checksum
FAILED
This is more ominous than just a dead hard drive as it may indicate a problem with the motherboard. What exactly happens when you try to boot up the computer?

That is a video driver problem. In order to fix that if you cannot boot into safe mode to uninstall the video driver you would have to reload Windows. But I am definitely concerned about the Checksum error. That is somethign you might get with a bad BIOS chip or some other pretty major motherboard problem. Even if it is just your hard drive, that would explain the inability to load the video driver if its stored in a bad sector on the hard drive. Your laptop is in a state where simple tweaks and adjustments are not going to be helpful.
